ISSUE 3: GUN CONTROL

Constitutional Amendment 2: Bearing Arms (Adopted December 15 1791)

“A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

Constitutional Amendment 3: Quartering Soldiers (Adopted December 15 1791)

“No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law.”

RESTRICT GUN OWNERSHIP: We must amend Second Amendment of the Constitution “Bearing Arms”, in such ways that we abolish ownership of all Assault weapons, and still allow ordinary citizens to own simple guns for hunting, protection and hobby with proper legal and psychological qualifications and proper accountability of gun ownership. Each gun is made for the sole purpose of killing, and while some killings are justified, a clear majority is unfortunate undesired murders and these can be avoided.

We do not want innocent people losing lives, petty criminals killing with guns and filling jails, mass killings in educational institutions and public places, all resulting in miseries for so many innocents and higher cost of doing business, and not feeling safe in our own country. Who benefits from all this?

PLANNED ACTION: Challenge the validity of the Second Amendment in the Supreme Court of the United States, based upon the present day political, civil and governing environment of the nation with its defense against foreign aggression with a national army replacing the Militia of that budding nation it used to depend upon. The Second Amendment is companion to the Third Amendment “Quartering Soldiers” in its validity today. National Army do not quarter soldiers in people’s houses.  Both amendments are absolute now.

There must be restrictions on gun ownership based on need purpose; otherwise we are making ordinary citizens, who otherwise will not kill for robbery or petty crimes, in gang violence, and will not be able to execute mass killings in our schools and public gathering. A vast-majority of these killings further promote gun culture and violence, takes away innocent lives, destroys families and makes children orphans; fill our prisons with majority ordinary citizens who otherwise will not be able to kill, wasting their lives in prisons and become financial burdens for tax payer.  This Second Amendment as such is very detrimental to our civil society.  We are safe nowhere no matter how many guns we carry to protect ourselves in running our daily lives.

When the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution was adopted on December 15, 1791, the newly formed nation was like a wide-west, individual protection was an issue and national security of the new nation was an issue. Now we live in a civilized society where the Democratic Government is responsible for our protection and the national army is responsible for our geographic integrity; Second Amendment as such has become very detrimental to our daily living, where law makers are even pushing the school children for open-carry gun law. Our education institutions will be future battle grounds rather than institutions of learning!
